United Steelworkers of America, Arbitration Department records, 1930-1987.

This collection from the Arbitration Department spans the period from the mid-1940s, when arbitration was a component of the activities of the Wage Division of the United Steelworkers of America (USWA), through the institution of an independent Arbitration Department in 1960, and until 1987 when that department was merged with the Collective Bargaining Services Department. Most of the records document two companies, Alcoa Company and Jones and Laughlin Steel Company (grievance cases). In addition, there is bargaining services correspondence with many companies. One file of Armco newsletters dates from the 1930s. Materials include contracts and arbitration and grievance case files.
